The only way to travel!

Fast and environmentally friendly, not sure I'd fancy being the camel though.

Locals playing cricket by the road.

They asked me to join them, not sure I would have done too well in my flip flops so politely declined!

Another beautiful temple.

Hi all,
Been wandering Ahmedabad on foot today and alone! Which was kind of scary, hardest part was crossing the roads. Not to mention the fact I am so obviously a tourist so had streams of people hanging off me asking for money. Eventually managed to get myself lost! Also realised that flip-flops were not the best choice when it's very hot (therefore sweaty!!!) and dusty, my feet are now killing me!

Local cuisine!

I've eaten in a couple of restaurants so far and the food has been fantastic, it's also very very cheap!
Many restaurants only sell vegetarian food, tonight I had a huge plate of Burritos filled with chilli, cheese and beans with spinach rice, salad and vegetables and it cost 118 Rupees, which is about £1.50!!!
I could get used to this!
Oh and I haven't had a single mosquito bite yet!
Missing you all loads.
xx

A typical building in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is a very busy town, this is one part of it that I visited today.
I've been surprised by how many dogs and cows wander the streets!
Found a McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Dominos today!!! They get everywhere don't they? Don't worry though, I haven't come all this way just to eat food that I can get in any English town!

Perfect Blue!

The sky is always perfect blue and I love it! xx

And that's a quiet moment!

Hopefully the video works and you can see what I mean about the traffic! You might have to download a 'plug-in' to play the video but it should tell you that!

One of many temples.

One road I drove along had about 6 beautiful temples, this one was my favourite.

They're the Bees-ness! 'Groan!'

I spotted these amazing bees nests in the India Institute of Management.

Never seen anything like them, the yellow one is apparently not in use anymore. Fortunately, they are a long way from where I'm staying, so I shouldn't get stung!

Transport

If Mr Bennett is nervous of my driving, he wants to spend a day driving round Ahmedabad!

I'm still trying to figure out whether anybody has a right of way or whether it's just a 'free-for-all'!

The yellow and green vehicles are called Rickshaws and they are everywhere, they're a great way to get around and they run on natural gas so are much better for the environment than cars.

The School Day

Obviously, I haven't got into the school yet as it's the weekend. However, I have found out that the school day runs in 2 shifts......starting at 7am!!! Hands up if you want Wrotham Road to start that early!

The next morning

Ahmedabad the next morning:
The view from my balcony! Not bad.

From Gravesend to Gujurat!

Gatwick at 6am:

It's tough to have to abandon this weather for a week!

A bit of a slow start!

Hi everyone,
Been a bit slow to get this started, had a few internet issues which are now resolved fortunately. Also had to sleep lots after a very long day yesterday.
Arrived in Ahmedabad about 12 hours ago and have been out exploring the town this morning (and had a fabulous curry for lunch!). Taken lots of photos already and will be uploading them shortly.
I hear it's cold, wet and very windy back in the UK. Should I mention that I'm sitting by the pool in stifling heat and blistering sunshine???
The video conference assembly is now going to be on Tuesday rather than Monday but very much looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces.
Take care, be good and check back soon as I'll be posting a load of photos later today.
